Different Types of Exercise You Can Do In A Treadmill

One of the misconceptions about treadmills is that they are only designed for running. What many people do not know is that there are so many other exercises that they can do if they have a treadmill at home. If you are looking to buy treadmill online, then here are the different exercises that you can do with it even in the comfort of your home.

Reverse Mountain Climbing

In this version, you work more on kicking your legs back rather than pushing your knees in. This workout involves your entire body, but if you want to shape your backside, this is one of the best training to do. Start by setting the treadmill to 1-2 mph. You must walk behind it and get into a plank position. Make sure that your feet are safely on the base of the treadmill while your hands are on the floor. And when you’re ready, step onto the treadmill, and bring one knee to your chest while extending the other. Ensure that you switch legs as you do this.

Side Shuffles

If you want to focus more on your legs on a treadmill, the side shuffles are for you. This works your thighs and calves from all sides. You start by standing sideways on the treadmill with your knees slightly bent. Set the treadmill pace to between 3 and 5.5 mph. Your side shuffles should be snappy. Make sure that you softly land on the balls of your feet.

Walking Lunges

Using a treadmill to do walking lunges lets you focus on the exercise and as a result, you burn more calories. To do it, turn the treadmill to 3 mph and keep your feet hip-width apart. Then, step forward with your right leg bending your right knee at a 90-degree angle as you lower your body. Then stand up and take a step forward with your back foot. Continue doing this as you switch legs.

Walking Plank

There are different types of planking that you can do. This variation is the best if you are working out on a treadmill. This focuses more on your front shoulders and stabilizers. Start by walking behind the treadmill and putting your hands on the base of the machine. Then move by walking your hands forward on the treadmill band. Make sure that you keep your body straight from your head down to your heels.

These are just some of the many treadmill workouts that you can do. That is why it is very important that you know how to make the most out of this machine if you are planning to buy one for your home gym. Remember that with a treadmill, you will never run out of workout options. You will always have something more fun and exciting to try.
